First Grade Singers is a select group of students chosen for their vocal quality, behavior and academic success. Mrs. Howell listens to every child in the school during the week of auditions. Students are scored on vocal quality, voice size, pitch accuracy, tonal memory, blend with group, clarity of words, and behavior in the music classroom and behavioral and academic performance in their main classroom.
We practice the song(s) that all children will be asked to sing for auditions in class: Happy Birthday(Traditional) and/or God Bless America.
Choir is selected by a child's vocal tone, pitch matching, behavior, and academics. The choir performs for special occasions and is asked to leave class for rehearsals, events or field trips. This is why academics and behavior are considered.
