Grading Information - COVID-19
PPSD Grading and Promotion Procedures – Covid-19
Elementary and secondary students must earn a passing grade according to the board-approved grading scale to be promoted.
Term 4 (4th Nine Weeks) Average
The final grade for Term 4 (4th Nine Weeks) in year-long courses will be determined using the following grade calculation:
(S1 x .67) + (T3 x .33) = T4 Average
The final grade for Term 3 should be entered into SAM as the final grade for Term 4 (4th Nine Weeks), which will be the final grade.
T3 = T4 = Final Average
Final Averages for Year-Long Courses
The final grade for any year-long course will be calculated by averaging the final grades for each semester:
(S1 + S2)/2 = Final Average
Semester 2 average will be calculated by averaging the final grades for Term 3 and Term 4:
(T3 + T4)/2 = Semester 2 Average
Final Average for Semester Courses (0.5 Credit)
The final grade for any semester course will be calculated by averaging the final grades for the third and fourth terms:
(T3 + T4)/2= Semester Average (Final Average)
- Students who completed the packets in a satisfactory manner may have up to 5 points added to their End-of-the-Year Final Average.
- Second semester (0.5 credit) courses can earn up to 5 points as well.
- Dual Credit courses have continued through Hinds and did not do packets. Therefore, their grades are from Hinds and will follow the requirements set by Hinds Community College.
No state end-of-year assessments (MAAP) will be administered or required for promotion or graduation in the 2019-2020 school year.
Any student who has received credit for (passed) Algebra 1, Biology 1, English 2, and U.S. History will not have to pass the MAAP end-of-course test as a graduation requirement. This applies to students who are currently enrolled in these courses and never tested, as well as students who previously earned credit but were in a retesting situation.
