Martha Metcalf

  • Hello Hola

I graduated from Union University (Jackson, TN) in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Spanish Language and Culture and in Teaching English as a Second Language. In the past 11 years, I have taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to K-8th grade students as well as to adults from diverse cultures and countries. In addition to teaching ESL, I have taught Spanish to students in grades 7-12, first in Tennessee and also here in Mississippi. I studied Spanish in Costa Rica (2004) and Mexico (2008) and have traveled to Argentina, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Spain as an interpreter for church mission trips.

When I am not teaching, I love to travel, cook, read, and listen to Latin music.

THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A VISION

I invite you to think about the vision you have for your future. What do you want to do with your life? What need or problem do you see in the world? How can you use YOUR life to better the life of others? How will you use your school training to achieve your vision? And, more than anything, how can speaking two or more languages be to your advantage? This year we are going to enlarge our world by learning about other cultures and languages.

¡Nos vemos pronto! See you soon!
