Required Summer Reading List

Students enrolled in the courses listed below are required to do summer reading. You are responsible for having the book(s) read on the first day of school. Please see the list below to determine what you should read. If you have any questions, please contact the English Department Chairperson Heather Westerfield (hwesterfield@pearlk12.com).
* ALL Advanced Placement English III and Dual Enrollment students must complete the Summer Reading Assessment Sheets. ALL 9th Grade Accelerated English I students must complete the Tuesdays with Morrie Project. These may be accessed using the links in the table below or by scrolling to the bottom of this page.
Students enrolled in regular English I, II, III, or IV do NOT have summer reading.

The edition of the book does not matter as long as it is the correct author and title and NOT an abridged version of the book. ALL AP English III and Dual Enrollment Comp I students must complete the Summer Reading Assessment pages on their book(s). ALL 9th Grade Accelerate English I students must complete the Tuesdays with Morrie Project with their book. These can be found by clicking on the appropriate links above.
Books may be purchased online, from any metro area bookstores, or checked out at the Pearl Public Library. Please read supply lists carefully. Students need to have their own copies of some books for classroom/home use.
