Assistant Superintendent Selected for the 2024-2025 School Year

We are pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Laurin Bailey as Assistant Superintendent for the Pearl Public School District, beginning July 1, 2024. Dr. Bailey will assume this role, succeeding Dr. Kim LaFontaine, who will retire after dedicating more than 31 years to education.

A 2003 Pearl High School graduate, Dr. Bailey brings nearly 17 years of valuable experience in education to her new position. Throughout her career, she has taught 1st grade at Pearl Lower, served as a curriculum specialist and assistant principal at Northside Elementary, and most recently, has held the position of principal at Pearl Lower Elementary since July 2022.

“Dr. Bailey is a proven leader that truly has a heart for children,” said PPSD Superintendent Chris Chism. “We all look forward to working with her in this new role, and we feel confident that her elementary experience will help us make informed decisions at the district level.”

"I am sincerely honored and grateful for the opportunity to transition into this new role,” said Bailey. “I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated and committed educators as we collectively work towards enriching educational experiences for all of our students."

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Laurin Bailey!
