Created by the Mississippi Legislature, this program is designed to provide financial aid assistance to Mississippi residents attending state approved public and nonprofit two-year and four-year eligible colleges and universities. The primary objective of the MTAG is to provide educational opportunities for students who wish to pursue post secondary education in the state. Award amount is $500 per year for your freshman and sophomore years of college.  Award amount increases to $1,000 per year for your junior and senior years of college.

To be eligible, you must have a high school cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale and have scored a minimum of a 15 on the ACT.

Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant (MESG)

YOLANDA KYLES STRICKLAND SERVICE AWARD

United Baptist Church  in Pearl is offering a $500 scholarship.

Applicants must provide the following: 1) transcript, showing a GPA of at least a 3.0, 2) completeted application, 3) two letters of reference, 4) a 30 word written essay, discussing the importance of cummunity service, 5) college acceptance letter, and 6) activities chart, which is included in the application packet.

Applications are available in the counselors' office. 

Application packet must be postmarked, faxed, or emailed to United Baptist Church by May 1st. 

SPRING LAKE GARDEN CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Spring Lake Garden Club will award a $500 scholarship to one student. Applicants must be free from any disciplinary actions, and must write a brief description of a community service project in which the student participated that added to the beautification to the City of Pearl.

Applications are available in the counselors' office and are dur back to the counselor's office by May 1st. 

CLASS of 2012 ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

Pearl High School's Class of 2012 will award a scholarship to a deserving member of the Class of 2013 who has been an active leader in school and in the community.

Applications are available in the counselors' office and are due back to the counselors' office by April 19th, 2013.

HAYES FAMILY DENTISTRY SCHOLARSHIP

Priority for this scholarship is given to students pursuing a career in a health related field or in education. 

Applications are available in the counselors' office.  Information to be included on the application includes: work experience, scholl activities/honors, community/volunteer activities and a personal statement about your future career and college goals and how you would use this scholarship to further those goals.

Applications are due back to the counselors' office by Friday, April 19th, 2013.

RAY ROGERS PRESSBOX SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is funded by the Pearl Touchdown Club and is a one time non-renewable scholarship paid to the college or university for a student who is a graduating senior football player, cheerleader or dance team member at Pearl High School in the year of the award.

The recipient must be accepted by a college or university.

The recipient must be of good character and commendable GPA.

The recipient must have a financial need.

The Executive Committee of the Pearl Touchdown Club, Mr. Ray Rogers and those appointed to serve on the Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.

Applications are available in the counselors' office or from Coach Perry, Mrs. McHenry, or Mrs. Durr.

Pearl High School Parent/Teacher Organization Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to offer financial assistance in the amount of $500.00 to one deserving Pearl High School student about to embark on his/her freshman year in a college, university, or community college. 

Applications are available in the counselors' office.

The application must be received by PTSO President, Sheila McQuirter, by April 15th, 2013. The application is to be mailed so plan ahead to make sure it gets to her on time!

Pearl Kiwanis Club Scholarship

These scholarships are for Pearl High School graduates planning to attend a vocational, community college, or university.

Eligibility requirements:  1) Member of the 2013 graduation class of Pearl High School, 2) A citizen of the United States, and 3) Submit an official transcript of grades/class rank/test scores for ACT and/or SAT.

Basis of eligibility:  1) Demonstrated good citizenship, honesty, community service, and sound moral character, 2) Achieved high academic performance; 3) Scored on standardized tests indicating high educational aptitude.

FOUR (4) copies of the completed and signed application, essay, letters of reference, and an official transcript of your grades and test scores must be received no later than Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013 by 2:00 P.M.  Late applications will not be accepted.  The Pearl High School counselors' office will accept these applications.

Visine Students With Vision Scholarship Program

The second annual Visine Students With Vision Scholarship Program is offering ONE-TIME $5,000 scholarships to students who have demonstrated a clear vision or goal for their future.  High School seniors and current college students with a minimum GPA of 2.8 may SUBMIT AN ONLINE APPLICATION NOW THROUGH MARCH 1, 2013 OR UNTIL 22,000 APPLICATIONS HAVE BEEN STARTED - WHICHEVER IS SOONER.  SO PHS STUDENTS GET YOURS IN ASAP!!!

Mississippi Alpha Delta Kappa Xi Chapter Nita Wright Scholarship

The Xi Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa will award a scholarship to a student who can best demonstrate scholastic ability and high moral character.  Preference will be given to students who are planning a career in some field of education.

Applicants must submit the following: 1) completed application, 2) three letters of recommendation, 3) transcript, 4) a HANDWRITTEN letter to the scholarship selection commmittee stating "Why I Need This Scholarship," and 5) a recent photograph

The Greater Jackson Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation Boyd Burrow Academic Scholarship Program

This scholarship program is for students with a keen interest in game conservation and preservation of the hunting heritage.  The awards are time $1,000 scholarships to individuals graduating from Jackson area high schools. 

Candidates are required to fill out an application, write an essay regarding their personal involvement in game conservation, provide academic transcripts, a personal photograph, a copy of a current hunting license and information concerning the college or university that they are planning on attending.

Student-View Scholarship Program

Student Insights is sponsoring a scholarship contest for high school seniors.  The following scholarships will be be awarded: ONE $4,000 scholarship, TWO $1,000 scholarships, and NINE $500 scholarships.

To apply, simply log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in our area.  The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications.

Rowan Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is for students going directly to a four year college or university.  Applicants will be considered based on their school activities and honors, community and volunteer activities, and work experience.  In addition, applicants must write an essay describing how their experiences at Pearl High School have impacted their goals and plans and how the scholarship will assist them in meeting their goals.

Regions Bank Riding Forward Scholarships

Regions Bank is offering high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors an opportunity to both celebrate the contributions of African Americans, past and present, and earn money to attend college through the 2013 Regions Riding Forward Scholarship Essay Contest.

Regions will award scholarships to ONE high school senior and ONE college student from EACH of the 16 states with Regions Bank branches.  The selection is based on a competitive essay contest.

Eligible high school seniors may apply to win a $5,000 scholarship by writing an essay about an African-American (past or present) who has inspired them.

Rankin County Chamber of Commerce Scholarships

These scholarships are for students who will be going to the Rankin Campus of Hinds Community College in the fall.  The Rankin County Chamber of Commerce will alward NINE $1,000 scholarships!!!

Applicants must submit the following with their application: 1) paper or online Hinds CC scholarship application, 2) a two page essay outlining your background, your feelings toward community service and objectives of your eduational program, career plans, work experience, and financial need, 3) three letters of recommendation, and 4) the most recent copy of your transcript.

CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI OLE MISS ALUMNI CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

The Central Mississippi Ole Miss Alumni Club will award $1,000 scholarships to eligible selected students. Last year they awarded 15 of these scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded to eligible students based solely upon merit and without regard to gender, race, color, and creed. 

To be eligible, you must be on track to graduate in 2013 with a "B" average and must have scored between and 21 and 28 on the ACT.  Past recipients have demonstrated leadership qualities in schools, religious and/or community organizations.

Applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, March 8, 2013.

ROTARY CLUB OF JACKSON MENTOR SCHOLARHSIP PROGRAM

This college scholarship program is a maximum of $16,000 total grant, payable at up to $4,000 per year for four years.

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on each student's potential, financial need, and high school performance.  Information on test scores, grades, courses taken, quality of written expression, involvement in extra-curricular activities, attendance, outside employment, and other responsibilities will be considered.

Burger King Scholars Program

Burger King employees, their dependent children, spouses, or domestic partners are eligible to receive up to $50,000 in scholarship awards for the 2013-2014 school year.

Boardwalk Pipeline Scholarship

In each of the past couple of years, at least one Pearl High School student has been selected to receive this $1,000 scholarship. 

To be eligible, you must have at least a 3.0 GPA and must plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college or university.  Your work experience, community service, and participation in student organizations and activities will also be considered.

BUICK ACHIEVERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program will award 100 scholarships up to $25,000/year that are renewable up to four years and 1,000 one-time scholarships each at $2,000.

Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship

The amount of this scholarship varies depending on the need of the student.  The award amount ranges from $500 to $5,000 per year.  The award may be renewed each year for a maximum of four years or eight semesters. 

A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required to be eligible along with a few other critieria, which you can find at http://www.jimmyranefoundation.org/index.php/scholarships. 

The online application will become available on December 1st, 2012. 

The deadline to apply is February 15th, 2013.

Central Mississippi Ole Miss Rebel Club Scholarship

Each spring, the Central MS Ole Miss Rebel Club awards scholarships to deserving area students.  Last year they awarded fifteen $1,000 scholarships.

To be eligible, you must have a "B" average and must have scored between and 21 and 28 on the ACT.  Past scholarship recipients have demonstrated leadership qualities in school, religious, and/or community organizations.

Applications are available in the counselors' office.

Applications must be postmarked by March 8th, 2013.

Winners will be announced and recognized at the club's scholarship luncheon in April 2013.

Delta State University Academic Scholarships

Delta State University is now awarding academic scholarships to first time entering freshmen, paying approximately 30 percent of tuition starting at an 18 on the ACT with a 3.0 grade point average.  Students with a 25 and a 2.50 or higher GPA are eligible for awards between 50 percent and 100 percent of tuition and fees.

The University of Mississippi has many scholarships that have been made available through the generous donations of alumni and friends of the university. The scholarships listed below are available for incoming freshmen and community college transfer students that plan to attend The University of Mississippi beginning Fall 2012.

Incoming freshmen who wish to be considered for scholarships must file a University of Mississippi Admission Application, and submit an onlineSpecial Programs and Scholarships Application. This application has a priority deadline of January 15th, but should be completed by March 1.

TEC (Telephone Electronics Corporation) D.L. Fail Memorial Scholarship

Two scholarships totaling $5,000 will be awarded to two high school students (18 years old or younger) in the telephone company's service area. The Bay Springs service area customers are defined as those persons who have an active account and can be serviced by TEC. This includes customers who have any or all of the following services provided by TEC: TECellular, High Speed Internet, TEC TV, TEC Security, phone, cable, and long distance. 

The winning submission will receive $3,000 and 2nd place will receive $2,000.  Both scholarships can be used to pay tuition and related expenses at any college or university of the student's choice. 

The essay topic is "Resisting Peer Pressure."

The postmark deadline to submit essays is Thursday, November 8, 2012.

National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Award

The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards program was established to raise awareness among the nation's youth of the critical role that private enterprise and entrepreneurship play in the building of America. Since 2003, the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation has awarded 2,095 scholarships to graduating high school seniors totaling $2,382,000.

Students are encouraged to apply for our awards beginning October 1, 2012, and may apply until December 17, 2012.

Applicants MUST be running their own small business in order to be considered for an award.

Mississippi Bail Agents Association's Lauren Hodges Scholarship for Special Needs Students

There is a Five Hundred dollar ($500.00) cash scholarship award designed for special needs children 18 years and under who is a child or grandchild of a voting member of the Mississippi Bail Agents Association in good standing. The applicant must be currently being served under an Individualized Education Program (IEP) written by the attending school.

AES Engineers Scholarship

AES Engineering's belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated the essays that are submitted.

Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.

You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

2013 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

This program provides an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism by recognizing students who have distinguished themselves through volunteer work. 

Students who have taken part in community service activities over the past year are urged to fill out an online application form at http://spirit.prudential.com or http://www.nassp.org/spirit. Once the form has been completed, it must be submitted to a school counselor or principal by November 6th, 2012.  Then, our school will select our most deserving applicant and recognize them as well as nominate them for state-level honors and the President's Volunteer Service Award.  Those award winners will then be eligible to win an award of $1,000 or more, a medallion, and a trip to Washington, D.C.

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program

Since 1984, the Horatio Alger Association has awarded nearly $100 million in college schoalrships to deserving students.  The 2013 scholarship programs will provide financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perserverance in overcoming personal adversity.  Scholarship criteria also include a commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree U.S. citizenship.  The scholarships range in award value from $5,000 to $20,000.

Wendy's High School Heisman

Seniors who have at least a "B" average and participate in at least one school-sponsored sport can apply online at http://www.wendysheisman.com/.

There are 2 winners from each school. 

You must complete your application by 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on October 2, 2012. And in order to quality, you must have the application reviewed by a school official by 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on October 4, 2012.

CHRISTIAN LEADERS OF THE FUTURE SCHOLARSHIP

Metro Christian Living magazine and Belhaven University will honor high school seniors who are living out their commitment to Christ. 

The application process requires the thoughtful response to seven key questions about the student's Christian fatih and practice.  Students will be judged on the content as well as the quality of their writing. 

The overall winners (2) will receive $1000 scholarships each.

The deadline is December 7, 2012.
